This number is very significant and it will have special significance to the Jews. The original language of Hebrew was 18 letters and not 22 letters like we have been told. (see chart in comments below).
Traditions that the Jews have to remind them of this include giving gifts in increments of 18; when women bake Challah bread they have to have the dough processed within 18 minutes, etc. Through these practises they remember that the original language is 18 letters.

But… they keep it a secret from the Gaiym (That would be us, the non-Jews).
I don’t think that God is particularly happy with that because the Jews were sent to be a light to the world, and yet this kind of mentality is very 'us and them.'
So... wouldn’t it be amazing when 11 + 11 equals 22, while we are in the year 22 on the *Gregorian* calendar.
God is showing them that he is paying attention to the calendar of the gentiles as well as theirs.
Leah was the bride first and then Rachel. So what would cause them to be stirred to jealousy? A gentile bride marrying first. They know about the rapture and they believe that they are his bride, which they will be, but just not first.
These observations are shared in no way to denigrate the Jews, they are the apple of God's eye. When they see these things the blinders will be removed, and they will have incentive towards repentance, towards Yeshua Hamashiach.
